For years, I lived in silence. I pretended everything was fine because I thought I needed people—needed their approval, their money, their stability—to survive. It began in childhood, staying quiet out of dependence on parents. That survival mentality carried into adulthood. I kept silent in relationships, careers, and situations that drained me because I feared the consequences of speaking up.
But the cost of living a lie is steep. When you suppress your truth to avoid conflict, maintain appearances, or secure financial stability, you’re dying inside. Silence in the face of disrespect, dishonesty, or mistreatment erodes your self-worth. Each time you tolerate what doesn’t serve you, you reinforce a belief that you don’t deserve better.
The truth is, the people you’re trying to please or depend on often don’t truly value you. They’ll give their best to others while leaving you with scraps. And as long as you’re afraid to lose them or what they provide, you stay enslaved to their treatment.
I learned this the hard way. By staying silent, I enabled the disrespect and dishonesty that made me miserable. But here’s the revelation: when you finally stop tolerating the scraps and dare to walk away, you reclaim your power.
Yes, walking away is terrifying. It takes courage to choose truth over comfort, to sit alone with nothing rather than live a lie. But when you trust yourself and speak your truth, you open the door to something far greater.
You see, when you settle for less, you block the abundance that life—God—has waiting for you. Most of us cling to crumbs because we fear the unknown, yet a banquet is prepared for those who are willing to let go.
The choice is yours: will you keep living in fear, silence, and mediocrity? Or will you find the courage to demand more from life? The truth may be uncomfortable, but it’s the only path to freedom, self-respect, and the life you deserve.
