We Are Not Waiting on God, God Is Waiting on Us

Have you ever felt that nagging sense inside of you, knowing there’s something you’re meant to do, yet you keep putting it off? That deep-seated purpose, the call to fulfill something bigger, but you drown it out with excuses—telling yourself it’s too hard, too painful, or that the timing just isn’t right. We’ve all done sidestepping God’s will for our lives.

We fill our days with distractions, complain about our circumstances, and gossip to avoid confronting the real issue: our reluctance to do what God wants us to do. We avoid living right because doing so is uncomfortable. Instead, we look for shortcuts—easy relationships, fast solutions, quick fixes—hoping that somehow, we can bypass the hard work required to live a purpose-driven life.

But the truth is, God isn’t holding us back. We are holding ourselves back. We are not waiting on Him; He is waiting on us. He’s waiting for us to stop making excuses and take responsibility for the path we’re called to walk. Everyone has a purpose, and no matter how much we resist, God’s will is ultimately unavoidable. At some point, we will have to confront what we’ve been avoiding and step into the life we are meant to live.

What are the crucifixions we run from? Rejection, betrayal, the silent treatment from those we care about, harsh criticism, and judgment. These are the crosses we bear in life—the painful experiences that shape us. Yet, instead of embracing them and learning from them, we often fight them, resisting the very things that will lead us to growth and fulfillment.

God is not asking us to have an easy life. He’s asking us to live a purposeful one, even when it’s hard. The question is, how long will you keep running from His call? How long will you avoid the difficult path, when deep down you know that surrendering to God’s will is the only way to true peace?

Stop fighting. Stop making excuses. God is waiting on you to fulfill the purpose only you can fulfill.
