Enslaved by the World: Breaking Free from the Daily Grind

Every day, we wake up and dive into routines that feel inescapable—careers, obligations, grocery shopping, entertaining, pleasing family, and managing relationships. Slowly but surely, these routines turn us into slaves, imprisoning us in a cycle that leaves us exhausted and disconnected. We’re trapped, and most of us don’t even realize it.

How often do you wake up with thoughts of how much money you need to make, how to manage people, or how to meet endless demands? We are caged individuals, running a race we’re not sure we even want to be in. We’re caught up in cultural expectations, posturing, and striving for approval, all the while running further and further away from ourselves. There’s never a moment of quiet reflection—just more running, more doing, more accomplishing.

This constant state of motion is making us physically and mentally ill. The unhappiness it creates fuels our search for more distractions and addictions—whether it’s social media, entertainment, or other forms of escapism. Society glamorizes this constant hustle, making us believe that slowing down or stepping out of the chaos is a failure, a sign that we’re “not keeping up.”

But have you ever stopped to ask, Is this really what I want? Or are we just turkeys running around on the ground, when we could be eagles soaring above, seeing life with clarity? We are so caught up in the grind that we fail to notice how it strips us of our freedom and peace.

To break free, we need to step back, quiet our minds, and reflect. It’s time to reclaim our lives, stop running from ourselves, and choose authenticity over societal expectations. Otherwise, we’ll remain enslaved by the world, forever stuck in a cycle of chasing illusions, never truly living.

The question is, do you want to fly with the eagles or keep running with the turkeys? The choice is yours.
