Belief in Change: Faith, Patience, and the Power of God

Why do we so often lose hope in the goodness of others? Why do we doubt that change is possible? In my own life, I’ve faced this dilemma many times, walking away from difficult relationships and challenging situations because, deep down, I didn’t believe that real change could happen. Even though I’ve been immersed in the world of personal empowerment, there was always a part of me that doubted a good God could transform someone if I just prayed hard enough.

The truth is, change is only possible when we truly believe that God is good, that He is capable of anything, and that no situation is beyond His power. But what stops us from turning to this good God? For me, it was laziness and impatience. I wanted quick fixes, and when they didn’t happen, I lost faith. But real faith develops in the dark—when you can’t see the way forward but choose to believe anyway.

The reality is, faith takes work. It’s like going to the gym and putting in the effort every day to get in shape. If we want God to perform miracles in our lives, we have to show up, day after day, and persevere, even when it feels dry, boring, or difficult. My lack of patience and my desire for instant results caused me to give up on people and relationships too soon. I didn’t give God the time or space to work His miracles.

It’s easy to find excuses to leave—friends, social media, and the world around us will all tell us why it’s better to walk away. But if we shift our beliefs and truly trust that God can transform even the most difficult situations, the universe will align to support that faith. Miracles can happen, but only if we persevere with patience, faith, and love.

Faith is a decision. It’s a choice we make to believe in the goodness of God, even when everything around us feels hopeless. And that decision is yours to make, every single day.
