True Self-Control: Finding Power in Emptiness..

The secret to true self-control, is becoming deeply comfortable with the most uncomfortable feelings that arise within us. It’s about sitting with those feelings, allowing them to surface, and embracing the discomfort they bring. Self-control isn’t about suppressing or escaping these feelings; it’s about facing them head-on and finding strength in the process.

True self-control is developed when you’re willing to “die to self,” shedding the layers of ego and the incessant need for comfort and escapism. This means limiting yourself to the bare essentials—food, water, sleep—and finding solace in prayer and meditation. It involves a kind of fasting: distancing yourself from people, social media, and any form of external distraction. This is not to escape reality, but to immerse yourself in the stark reality of nothingness.

This state of nothingness is where your power truly lies. It is in the emptiness, the boredom, and even in the pain, that you find your true self. When you can regulate your emotions, not by running from them but by confronting them, you begin to find stability and peace. This is where real self-control emerges. It’s not about being unfeeling or detached; it’s about being so grounded within yourself that external circumstances no longer dictate your emotional state.

When you master this, freedom from attachment begins to manifest. Without this inner control, you remain a slave to the things or people outside you, always needing something or someone to regulate your emotions. In those moments, you may feel like you have control, but in reality, you are being controlled. True self-control is not about holding on; it’s about letting go and finding strength in the surrender. It is in the embrace of nothingness that you discover the power of everything.
